Religious Freedoms
For reference this refute is from an article which speaks
of the passing of a law in Kentucky which declares that it is illegal to refer
to gay behavior as sinful to the juveniles. The article was taken from author Steven
Crowder (2015), Pastors now legally banned from calling gay lifestyle sin. Retrieved from: http://louderwithcrowder.com/pastors-now-legally-banned-from-calling-gay-lifestyle-sinful/.
This has both shocked me and brought the truth
of God’s Word into a reality. Is calling
sin out wrong? Is exposing evil and
calling it exactly what it is wrong? It
is our duty as Christians to declare and preserve God’s truth.
I will examine three points and bring rebuttal to each of
the three. Starting with this statement,
“In the state of Kentucky it is now officially illegal for pastors volunteering
to council juvenile criminals to refer to gay behavior as “sinful.”
Now, counselling juveniles that homosexuality is indeed a
sin is not only a Christians right, it is commanded in Scripture. Ephesians 5:11 (ESV), “Take no part in the
unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” So I see the great fallacy spoken here in the
passing of a law to charge Christian’s with a crime to stand for the truth of God’s
Word.
The next point is derived from the following statement, “Pastors
are being dismissed if they speak their mind about the LGBTQI community.”
In direct opposition to this is that Christians are not
just speaking their minds; much more, they are speaking the mind and heart of
God against sin. Also with this is a
direct violation of our constitutional rights.
The last point I will speak from is this; where the
article said this, “Something to note: you know what else pastors would openly
consider “sinful?” Alcohol abuse,
disrespecting one’s spouse or parents, anger, promiscuity etc.”
Here is a clear and biased fallacy, one that must be
refuted. The refute is that if it’s ok
to speak against these sins and not homosexuality, then why? Romans 1:21 (ESV), “For although they knew
God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became
futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
In conclusion to this, we must be steadfast and immovable
in the faith and truth of God’s Word. It
is our duty to be the pillar and the ground of the truth. If you take the light out of the world, then
the world would be consumed with nothing but darkness and evil. Knowing these great fallacies are being
consumed as truth is a stark reality, and one we must prepare for. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, In
Jesus name.
